Cordish Cos., Penn National partnering

The Cordish Cos., of Baltimore, owner of the Maryland Live Casino in Hanover, and Penn National Gaming Inc., of Wyomissing, Pa., one of the nation’s largest gaming companies, announced that they are joining together to seek the right to build a gambling casino and resort in Orange County, N.Y.

The companies said they will seek local approval to build a $750 million, world-class casino and resort on a 120-acre parcel of undeveloped land in the Village of South Blooming Grove, about 60 miles north of Manhattan.

The Cordish Cos. recently lost out to an affiliate of Penn National in a bid to build a slots-only casino in Plainville, Mass.
