Choice Hotels International Inc., of Rockville, a hotel franchising chain, reported first-quarter earnings that topped Wall Street analysts’ predictions.
The company posted net income of $19 million, or 32 cents per diluted share, a 22 per cent increase over the same period of 2013, when net income was $15.5 million, or 26 cents per diluted share.
Revenue totaled $147.3 million versus $136 million for the prior-year period.
On average, 15 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters had forecast first-quarter earnings of 29 cents on revenue of $143.55 million.
Choice Hotels franchises more than 6,300 hotels containing more than 500,000 rooms in the U.S. and more than 35 other countries and territories.
