The Maryland Stem Cell Research Commission has recommended, and the board of directors of the Maryland Technology Development Corp. has approved, funding for 31 new proposals with the Maryland Stem Cell Research Fund’s $10.4 million FY2014 budget.
The 31 successful applicants were selected from 151 applications received in response to the commission’s requests for applications.
Projects cover a range of diseases and conditions, including diabetes, vascular disease, schizophrenia, sickle cell anemia, chronic pain, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, osteoarthritis, depression, autism and epilepsy.
All MSCRF-funded research must be conducted in Maryland and must involve human stem cells.
