Kurt Schmoke, University of Baltimore president and former mayor of Baltimore, has established a new scholarship for Baltimore students enrolled in the university’s College of Public Affairs.

The Murray Alexander Schmoke Jr. Memorial Scholarship Fund was created through a $25,000 gift from Schmoke. The need-based scholarship is named after his late brother.

Alex Schmoke worked for T. Rowe Price, then he worked for a Washington-based group that raised money for black South African students to travel to the United States.
