Trial scheduled for man accused of kidnapping judge

The trial of a Boyds man accused of kidnapping and assaulting a Montgomery County judge is scheduled to begin Nov. 17, according to court records.

Rickley Senning was scheduled to make his first court appearance Friday in Montgomery County Circuit Court but the sides agreed to a scheduling order Thursday. Pretrial motions are scheduled for Sept. 8, and the trial is expected to last four days, according to court records.

Senning, 24, was indicted last week for the May incident involving Judge Audrey Creighton, his ex-girlfriend who had previously represented Senning when she was a public defender.

Prosecutors from Prince George’s County are handling the case, which has been assigned to retired Howard County Circuit Court Judge Diane O. Leasure.

Joseph W. Fay, a Washington, D.C., solo practitioner and criminal defense lawyer, entered his appearance Wednesday on behalf of Senning.

Creighton is on leave from the bench. Senning remains in jail on $500,000 bond.
