Cold Spring Shopping Center is set to get a makeover and a new anchor store.

The center’s owner, Pikesville-based Schwaber Holdings, announced Family Dollar will lease 8,900 square feet of the 22,000-square-foot development. The store is expected to open in the fall.

“Family Dollar is widely known for its excellent brand, loyal customer base, and ability to deliver necessity retail items,” Mark Renbaum, chief executive officer of Schwaber Holdings, said in a news release.  “Adding a first-class retailer like Family Dollar will bring more visitors to Cold Spring Shopping Center from an expanded radius, and will also provide more direct access to goods and services for the surrounding community.”

The company also announced plans to renovate the shopping center with a new facade and storefront, as well as replacing portions of the roof.  There will also be enhanced signage, lighting and landscaping.

Within a three-mile radius there are 245,000 residents, 113,000 households and an average household income of more than $63,000.
