Newly acquired contractor to leave NASA Goddard site

Vencore Services, a new entity created through The SI Organization, Inc.’s acquisition of QinetiQ North America Services and Solutions Group, will be exiting its location at the NASA Goddard Space Center in Greenbelt.

Vencore’s relocation will take place Sept. 30, affecting an unknown number of employees. The company recently reported the change to Maryland’s Department of Labor, Licencing and Regulation.

QinetiQ North America was a contractor for several federal agencies, including NASA. It secured nearly $194 million from the agency in 2013, landing it at number 18 in the list of NASA’s top 100 contractors from the Federal Procurement Data System.

According to a spokesperson from Vencore, the company last week lost its ETIS II program contract with NASA Goddard. Sierra Lobo will be taking over that contract Sept. 30.

The SI Organization, headquartered in Chantilly, Virginia, acquired QinetiQ in May for $215 million, according to press reports. At that time, SI said it would be integrating and rebranding the newly created $1.3 billion company.

QinetiQ North America had 2,800 employees and was based in Reston, Virginia. It was a subsidiary of QinetiQ Group PLC, based in the United Kingdom.

Vencore employs 4,800 people in 17 states and some foreign countries, according to its website. It provides services to the U.S. intelligence community, Department of Defense and various other federal and civilian agencies.
