Silk Road drug dealer sentenced to 6 years

A former drug vendor on the Silk Road website, Jacob Theodore George IV, 33, of Edgewood, Maryland, on Friday was sentenced in U.S. District Court in Baltimore to six years in prison. According to his plea agreement, from at least November 2011 to Jan. 18, 2012, George sold heroin and other drugs via Silk Road, getting paid in the digital currency bitcoin. The alleged owner and operator of the website, Ross William Ulbricht, 30, of San Francisco, has been indicted in Maryland and in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York on charges related to Silk Road. Ulbricht is scheduled for trial in New York on Nov. 3.
