After assault charge in Baltimore, Prince George’s officer suspended

(AP) A Prince George’s County police officer has been suspended after he was charged with assault over the weekend. Prince George’s police say that Baltimore police charged Officer Michael O’Connell with second-degree assault on Saturday. O’Connell was off-duty at the time. Prince George’s police say they’ve launched an internal investigation and that O’Connell is suspended with pay pending an administrative hearing. O’Connell has been with the department for three years and is assigned to the patrol bureau. Details about the assault charge were not immediately released.
