Maryland Legal Aid receives $400K to aid in domestic violence efforts

Maryland Legal Aid was awarded over $400,000 to support legal services for survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence. The organization is receiving $436,626 from the Department of Justice Office on Violence Against Women under the Legal Assistance for Victims Grant Program. The three-year grant will support Maryland Legal Aid’s direct representation and advocacy efforts. Maryland Legal Aid will collaborate with TurnAround Inc., a Baltimore area nonprofit that provides counseling and support services to victims of sexual assault, domestic violence and sex trafficking, to coordinate civil legal representation for victims in Baltimore city and Baltimore County. A dedicated attorney will be hired to work from Maryland Legal Aid’s Baltimore County office and the TurnAround Inc. offices.
