TerraForm Power Inc., a Beltsville-based owner and operator of renewable energy power plants, announced on Wednesday that it is buying Hudson Energy Solar Corp. for $35 million. TerraForm Power will assume $21 million in debt as part of the deal. Hudson Energy Solar is a subsidiary of Just Energy Group Inc. TerraForm Power is partnering with SunEdison Inc. to purchase Hudson Energy, which will be split between them. The 101 projects comprising Hudson’s operating portfolio of approximately 25.5 megawatts will go to TerraForm Power, while its 4.5-megawatt development pipeline will be acquired by SunEdison. The deal is expected to close in the current quarter.
