Dream Academy gets federal grant

The U.S. Dream Academy in Columbia was awarded a $1 million federal grant for mentoring services for at-risk youth in grades 3 to 9, Rep. Elijah E. Cummings, D-Maryland, announced. The grant is supported by the Multi-State Mentoring Program at the Department of Justice. The program provides funding to support mentoring organizations with initiatives that reduce high-risk behaviors by youth. The award will allow the U.S. Dream Academy to expand mentoring services for children with an incarcerated parent and those impacted by crime or performing poorly in school.
