Anonymous donor gives $2M to Jemicy

Jemicy School in Owings Mills, which educates above-average to gifted college-bound students with dyslexia or related learning disabilities, has received a $2 million gift from an anonymous donor. The gift is conditional on a dollar-for-dollar fund-raising match by Jemicy by June 30. The donor has specified the endowment be dedicated to the performing arts. “For decades, we have delighted in Jemicy performances and watched in amazement as our students’ talents were revealed and unbelievable transformations of confidence occurred not only on stage, but in the classroom,” said Ben Shifrin, head of school.  “This endowment ensures and enables the continued development and expansion of that program.”
