Expanded Sunday hunting coming

(AP) The Maryland Department of Natural Resources says it expects to implement regulations allowing more Sunday hunting in Western Maryland during the firearm deer season starting Nov. 29. Spokeswoman Karis King said Thursday that the department expects a notice of final adoption to be published in the Maryland Register Nov. 14. The rules would then become effective Nov. 24. The agency had previously said the rules might not take effect before Dec. 22 due to a dispute with Sunday hunting opponents over the rulemaking process. The rules are intended mainly to reduce the white-tailed deer population. They would expand the opportunities to hunt deer, certain other mammals and some game birds on Sundays in Frederick, Washington, Allegany and Garrett counties.
