Officials say a Baltimore police officer has been charged with perjury and misconduct after arresting a man he allegedly knew was innocent.
Baltimore Police Department Officer Steven Slack has been charged with perjury and two counts of misconduct stemming from an arrest in January 2013. Officials say Slack signed a statement of probable cause for the arrest even after other officers at the scene told the officer that the man he detained was innocent.
A number listed for Slack could not receive messages on Thursday.
Baltimore Police Department spokesman Detective Jeremy Silbert says Slack is suspended from the force with pay. Silbert said Slack has been with the department since 2006.
