Rep. Delaney talks plans for western Maryland

HAGERSTOWN — U.S. Congressman John Delaney says he has a plan for western Maryland.

The Democratic congressman says he’d like lawmakers to focus on improving transportation, attracting more business, and expanding broadband Internet access throughout western Maryland. He also wants to make sure the region is getting its fair share of tourism dollars.

His plans come ahead of the next session of the Maryland General Assembly on Jan. 14.

Delaney tells The Herald-Mail that he wants to make sure lawmakers don’t forget about western Maryland and that his office will shine a spotlight on the region’s most important issues.

Delaney represents Maryland’s 6th Congressional District, which includes Allegany, Garrett, and Washington counties, and parts of Frederick and Montgomery counties.
