The Bank of America Charitable Foundation has awarded $227,000 in grants to 17 nonprofits in the Baltimore region, the foundation announced Wednesday. These grants will support access to housing, financial education, jobs skills training and human services. The largest grants went to Job Opportunities Task Force ($25,000), which will provide free tax preparation, financial education and technical assistance services to low-income neighborhoods in Baltimore; Govans Ecumenical Development Corp. ($20,000), which supplies food to impoverished families; and Paul’s Place ($20,000), of Baltimore, which serves healthy hot meals to more than 250 individuals five days a week and on holidays. Other organizations receiving grants were: Arundel House of Hope, Associated Catholic Charities, Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, Bello Machre, Bridges to Housing Stability, Franciscan Center of Baltimore, Harford Family House, Helping Up Mission of Baltimore City, HopeWorks of Howard County, Meals on Wheels of Central Maryland, Marian House, St. Vincent DePaul Society of Baltimore, The Light House, and The Women’s Housing Coalition.
