Harford hospitals get Top Performer distinction

The University of Maryland Upper Chesapeake Health’s two hospitals have each been named as a 2013 Top Performer on Key Quality Measures by The Joint Commission, an accreditor of health care organizations. UM Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air was recognized for its performance in treating heart attack, heart failure, pneumonia and for surgical care. UM Harford Memorial Hospital in Havre de Grace was cited for heart attack, pneumonia and surgical care. The two hospitals are among 1,224 in the United States to receive 2013 Top Performer distinction. The Top Performer program recognizes hospitals for improving performance in several treatment categories.
