Krieger recognized as Duchenne care center

Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy has named Baltimore’s Kennedy Krieger Institute as the country’s fifth Certified Duchenne Care Center. The designation recognizes Krieger’s efforts to improve care for people living with Duchenne, the most common fatal genetic disorder diagnosed in childhood. The Duchenne gene is found on the X-chromosome, so it primarily affects boys, with about 20,000 new cases worldwide each year. Medical treatments may help slow its progression, there is currently no cure for Duchenne.
