COLLEGE PARK – The suspensions of former Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice and Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson underscore a troubling fact: When compared with the general population, NFL players are disproportionately arrested and charged with domestic violence — and murder, weapons charges and sex offenses.
A Capital News Service analysis of crime in the NFL since 2000 also found that that some colleges — including the University of Maryland — had a disproportionate number of players it sent to the NFL arrested.
