Assistant General Counsel
CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield
Meredith Borden, assistant general counsel at CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield, says it’s not enough to just know the law.
“Building trust and respect with your colleagues and clients is of the utmost importance,” she said. “When mutual trust and respect have been established, the advice you give is believed, valued and sought.”
Borden, 37, is primary counsel to CareFirst’s public policy and community affairs, compliance and third-party administrator divisions. She is responsible for negotiating large medical vendor contracts and advising on implementing the Affordable Care Act.
She previously served in the Maryland Office of the Attorney General, where she received a fellowship to investigate drug price gouging.
She serves on the board of The London Foundation, is co-chair of The Park School Triennial Auction and is a member of the Beth Am Temple Youth Education Committee and The William T. Walters Association.
