Oana A. Brooks

Chief, Juvenile Courts Division

Office of the State’s Attorney for Baltimore City

Oana A. Brooks describes herself as an example of the American dream — she came to America at age 11 from Romania not able to speak English.

Now, she serves as chief of the juvenile division for the Office of the State’s Attorney for Baltimore City.

“My mom was an excellent role model, and the teachers I had believed in me, and as a result of that I believed in myself,” Brooks said.

Brooks, 36, also is an active volunteer, leading projects for the Junior League of Baltimore and serving on the Baltimore City School Board’s ethics panel.

She serves as the chairwoman of the Junior League’s 5K Committee. She also has lead a donation drive to help teenage girls living in homeless shelters and foster group homes, organized a volunteer day at House of Ruth, and helped clean Govans Elementary School.
