Director of Clinical Services
Caroline Hubbard is clinical director of the only organization in Baltimore focused specifically on adults with autism.
People with autism spectrum disorder deserve to have jobs, as well as recreational activities and personal relationships, she said.
“We as a society have charted this course from total ignorance about ASD to a frightened awareness and then awareness,” Hubbard said. “Now the challenge is to accept it and fold it into our collective existences.”
Hubbard, 33, works at Itineris Inc., a nonprofit organization supporting adults with autism. She helped grow the program — in 2011, it had one client and one staff member. Now, there are about 50 clients and 44 staff members.
In 2013, she also volunteered with the Global Autism Project in Nairobi, Kenya, where she mentored six professionals on best practices for supporting children with autism.
