Every day Kate Sam strives to live her life according to the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. quote, “Life’s most persistent and urgent question is: What are you doing for others?”

She has dedicated her career to working in the nonprofit sector, including serving in several positions at the Maryland Food Bank as grants manager, special events coordinator and director of communications.

This year, she became director of development and communications for the Parks & People Foundation, which supports education, recreation and parks.

“I’ve chosen to work for organizations that I feel are making a real, substantial difference long term for individuals, families and communities at-large,” she said. “And I’ve chosen organizations where I see an opportunity to make a personal impact and be a leader for change.”
