In 2008, appellant, William Nathaniel Johnson, was convicted by the Circuit Court for Anne Arundel County of sexual abuse of a minor, second degree sexual offense, continuing course of conduct with a child, and related offenses. In 2010, appellant filed a Petition for Post Conviction Relief, in which he requested that the convictions be vacated and that he be awarded a new trial. Following a hearing, the post-conviction court vacated the conviction for continuing course of conduct with a child, but denied all other relief.
Appellant applied for leave to appeal the judgment of the post-conviction court. We granted the application to review one of appellant’s questions: whether the post-conviction court erred in concluding that trial counsel did not provide constitutionally ineffective assistance by failing to present evidence that the victim was coached.
