Volvo facility certified platinum

The Volvo Group’s powertrain development and manufacturing facility in Hagerstown was named a Superior Energy Performance Platinum-Certified Partner, the highest level in the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) program, Volvo announced. The Hagerstown facility improved energy performance by nearly 21 percent over a three-year period. To qualify as a Platinum-certified partner, a facility must improve energy performance by more than 15 percent during a three-year period. The Hagerstown facility is responsible for powertrain development for Volvo Trucks, Mack Trucks and Prevost. “We are extremely proud of our energy efficiency results and the certifications we’ve received because they verify our performance, while the platinum level represents our level of commitment,” Wade Watson, vice president and plant manager of the Volvo Group powertrain facility, said in a statement. “These results show our dedication to environmental care, one of the Volvo Group’s core values, and our alignment with the DOE.”
