Verizon grants total $1.6 million

Verizon awarded $1.6 million in grants in 2014 in Maryland, the company announced. The grants went to organizations in the areas of domestic violence awareness and prevention, health care and STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) education. In addition, Verizon employees volunteered 18,560 hours to nonprofit groups in Maryland.
