City school wins ‘Wires Down’ contest

Baltimore’s Sarah M. Roach Elementary School has won the top prize in the third annual BGE Wires Down Video Challenge. Baltimore Gas and Electric Co. presented the Star Power Award and $10,000 to the school on Wednesday at a school assembly. In the competition, schools produced their own versions of the BGE Wires Down commercial to promote safety around power lines. Another $20,000 went to 10 other elementary schools in Central Maryland. More than 77,000 votes were cast over a two-week period in December to determine the winning videos, BGE said.
