Black Enterprise magazine’s annual list of the 40 best companies for diversity, announced this week, features Bethesda-based Marriott International, Inc.
Marriott and its fellow list-makers were chosen based on diversity among the companies’ board of directors, employee base, senior management and suppliers. The list also considered programs companies use to encourage diversity in the workplace.
”The companies featured on our roster exert a strong culture of inclusion, starting at the top with many of the CEOs presiding over internal inclusion councils and tying diversity best practices to job performance and compensation,” said Black Enterprise President and CEO Earl “Butch” Graves Jr. in a statement.
The results were compiled based in part on surveys of a thousand publicly traded companies in the U.S., plus 100 global companies with domestic operations.
The businesses will be honored at a luncheon featuring the Rev. Jesse Jackson at the 18th annual Rainbow PUSH Wall Street Project Economic Summit this week in New York. The list has been featured in Black Enterprise Magazine since 2005.
Others on the list were Philadelphia-based Comcast Corp. and McLean, Va.-based Freddie Mac.
