Lockheed orders Northrop’s new radar

Northrop Grumman has received an order for 142 of a new radar system from Lockheed Martin for Lockheed’s F-16 fighter jets, Northrop announced. Northrop Grumman’s APG-83 Scalable Agile Beam Radar, from the company’s Baltimore location, completed design reviews four months ago.  The SABR systems will be part of the Taiwan Air Force F-16 upgrade program. The first production system will be delivered to Bethesda’s Lockheed Martin in 2016. SABR is a fire-control radar for air-to-air and air-to-ground use. Other fire-control radars by Northrop are flying with F-16s, F-22s and F-35s.
