St. John Properties Inc. likes what’s happening at its Baltimore Crossroads.
Encouraged by the leasing of more than 100,000 square feet of R&D/flex office space at the 1,200 acre mixed-use business development in the final quarter of last year the company has decided to go ahead with even more building at the site, located on Route 43 near Interstate 95 in the White Marsh area.
On Monday, the company announced plans to build three more buildings — totaling 90,000 square feet — in the development on speculation in 2015.
St. John also announced, in conjunction with Elm Street Development Co., plans to break ground on Greenleigh at Crossroads, 200 acres of the Crossroads property set aside for a “new urbanism” style development with 2,500 residential units mixed with 500,000 square feet of office space and 100,000 square feet of retail late in 2015 or early 2016.
“Leasing activity was extremely brisk at Baltimore Crossroads last year, as corporate end-users continue to see this as the premiere mixed-use community in Baltimore County,” Richard Williamson, senior vice president of leasing for St. John Properties, said in a news release. “Reflecting the fourth quarter leasing success, we are seeing demand from new companies specifying space at Baltimore Crossroads and existing clients expanding their space requirements. We are proceeding with our first quarter development plans to stay ahead of the demand that we expect the addition of Greenleigh will draw.”
