A man who conspired to burn down his Lutherville home to collect $3 million in insurance money was sentenced to four years in prison. Saleh H. Fakhoury, 49, had pleaded guilty and was sentenced Tuesday in U.S. District Court in Baltimore. According to court documents, Fakhoury, who owned Alfeo’s restaurant, the Lutherville home and another home in Florida, hired Hassan Hammoud, 60, to torch the house in Lutherville. A first try didn’t work, but a second did, and the home was destroyed in a March 14, 2009, blaze. Hammoud, who worked for Fakhoury at Alfeo’s, also pleaded guilty and was sentenced to a bit over five years.
