Baltimore Shake Shack opens Monday with nod to city

You can line up for your ShackBurgers and crinkle-cut fries starting Monday morning when Baltimore’s first  Shake Shack opens its doors to the Inner Harbor at 11 a.m.

The popular fast-casual burger joint’s first foray into the regional market — the next-closest place to get your Shack fix is in D.C. — will be the first of a new mix of retail and restaurants to open at an expansion of the 400 East Pratt Street building.

The restaurant will feature a shout-out to its new digs with two locally inspired frozen-custard “Concrete” creations: the “Pratt St. Pie Oh My,” made with vanilla custard and a piece of blueberry pie courtesy of Baltimore-based purveyor of baked goods Dangerously Delicious Pies, and the “Salty Balty,” made with chocolate and vanilla custard, chocolate truffle cookie dough, cheesecake blondie and sea salt.

Shake Shack says 5 percent of all Salty Balty sales will be donated to Baltimore-based Moveable Feast, which provides healthy meals to the ill and needy.
