Lily Bengfort is an award-winning entrepreneur who has co-founded and built two successful firms, both of which were acquired by larger companies. Most recently, CenGen Inc., a leader in the field of highly mobile tactical wireless networks, was acquired by DRS Technologies, a subsidiary of Finmeccanica Group, a multibillion-dollar defense contractor that ranks among the top 10 global players in aerospace, defense and security.
She has a 20-year record of achievement as an entrepreneur, taking companies from seed stage to exit. She also has recent executive experience as vice president of DRS Defense Solutions and a background in public policy, communications, strategic planning/marketing, public relations, financial management, government and defense contracting as well as technical skills in networking. Her experience perfectly aligns with goals for building and creating high-growth technology businesses.
Currently, Bengfort is president of UAS Safeflight Inc., a company developing secure and safe technologies for unmanned aerial systems. A longtime member of the Baltimore-Washington area technology community, Bengfort is involved in advising the technology entrepreneur programs of a number of local universities and economic development programs, including University of Baltimore and the University of Maryland. She has served as a mentor/instructor for the internationally acclaimed ACTiVATE program, which is one of the entrepreneurial programs for women offered through the Maryland Center for Entrepreneurship, an initiative of the Howard County Economic Development Authority. She is founding member and serves on the board of the Howard County Tech Council.
She is part of the Tech Council’s Women in Technology Affinity Group and a member of the UMBC Cybersecurity Advisory Board. Bengfort also is a trustee of the Horizon Foundation, a philanthropic organization whose mission is the health and well-being of the citizens of Howard County.
