Victoria W. Bayless is the president and chief executive officer of Anne Arundel Medical Center.
She joined AAMC as vice president of clinical and support services in December 2005 and was promoted to chief operating officer in 2006. In September 2009, Bayless was named president and chief operating officer of Anne Arundel Medical Center.
Bayless has more than 20 years of experience in management and leadership roles, specializing in business development, hospital operations, strategic planning and marketing, medical staff relations and physician practice management. Prior to joining AAMC, she was vice president of clinical services at Washington Hospital Center.
In 2007, Bayless was recognized by Modern Healthcare magazine as one of 12 national health care leaders in the publication’s 2007 “Up and Comers” report.
AAMC has been a tobacco-free campus since 2007, but last year officials announced it would expand its tobacco-free policy to also include AAMC facilities in Annapolis, Bowie, Kent Island, Odenton, Pasadena and Waugh Chapel.
This year it no longer will hire employees who smoke as part of a push to promote healthier living.
Bayless received her bachelor of science from Tufts University and her master of health services administration from The University of Michigan School of Public Health. She also holds a certificate in executive leadership from the Georgetown University Center for Professional Development. She is a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives and still serves on several community boards.
