Snow forces Eastern Shore schools to adjust calendar

School districts on Maryland’s Eastern Shore are facing some tough decisions about how to make up snow days after two weeks of winter weather have thrown off the academic calendar. The Daily Times reported Wicomico schools may have the hardest decision because its schedule does not include extra days for school being canceled due to the weather. Spokeswoman Tracy Sahler says as soon as there is a snow day, the school system begins to look at how to make it up. With six days already canceled because of snow, officials may look to make up days over spring break or extending the school year into the summer. The solutions will vary by school district. Worcester schools have three days built into the year to compensate for snow days.
