Founder & Executive Director, SOAR Baltimore
Teacher, Baltimore City Public Schools
Bobby Moore is an avid education-technology enthusiast, who has used his entrepreneurial skills to develop a start-up for students in Baltimore called Student Opportunities and Academic Resources (SOAR).
SOAR, which conducted thorough beta testing sessions this spring and will officially launch in August, is a web-based platform that will profile Baltimore city students and connect them with resources to support their needs, interests and passions.
“SOAR empowers students in Baltimore to digitally showcase and fund their academic talents, interests and needs to new networks of people,” Moore said. “Let’s digitally transform the way our students share their school experiences and connect with new networks of people.”
Moore, 27, developed SOAR while teaching full-time in Baltimore City Public Schools. Moore joined the school system in 2011 through Teach for America.
He says his passion for developing SOAR stems from his experiences teaching in West Baltimore.
“I wanted my students to be proud of their work and share it with larger networks of people and also connect them with supportive or enriching at-home learning resources and outside-of-the-classroom learning opportunities,” Moore said.
