Dr. Jean Accius is a recognized thought leader on aging, health and long-term care issues.
Accius, 36, is director of health and long-term services and supports policy at AARP.
He says his most significant accomplishment has been advancing innovative policy recommendations and bold solutions to ensure communities across the country have the resources they need to support older adults desiring to live independently for as long as possible.
“I have the great fortune of waking up every morning thinking about innovative ways, through policy and advocacy, we can create a healthier society and increase the quality of life and care for older adults, their families and future generations,” he said.
Accius also is involved in several civic and community organizations dedicated to addressing the challenges facing residents in Prince George’s County. Among other things, he is a member of Leadership Maryland, a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. and serves as the national chair of the public policy committee. He has volunteered at a domestic women’s center and nursing home, and facilitated symposiums on health care and caregiving and more.
