MacKenzie R. Garvin
Special Assistant, Office of Economic and Neighborhood Development
Baltimore City Mayor’s Office
MacKenzie R. Garvin’s work as special assistant in the Office of Economic and Neighborhood Development is dedicated to improving the quality of life for Baltimore residents through influencing policy, creating access to business and job opportunities and helping people fulfil their dreams of owning homes.
“I wake up every morning excited about the promise of Baltimore city, am devoted to the work because I know it means something and most importantly am grateful that I am the lucky one who gets to do it,” Garvin said.
Garvin says her most significant accomplishment has been her role in the development of the Regional Training Center in Park Heights and bringing the Jane Addams Resource Corporation to Baltimore to provide welding and CNC machinist training for low-income and displaced residents in Baltimore city.
The goal, she said, is to help the most vulnerable populations in Baltimore obtain a job with “family-sustaining wages.”
