I had the pleasure recently to interview Steve Lash, The Daily Record’s appellate courts reporter, for The Annapolis Podcast, my weekly show where I discuss all things related to Maryland’s capital city.
We talked about the Court of Appeals’ current term, including the three cases he’s watching closely, Supreme Court cases (he has 20 years of experience covering SCOTUS), and some other local, federal cases.
As most of us know, there is an opening on the state’s top court now that Judge Glenn T. Harrell Jr. is retired. Steve and I discussed the three potential replacements for his spot (Court of Special Appeals Judge Michele D. Hotten, Prince George’s County Circuit Judge Sean D. Wallace and attorney Michael Winkelman), and Steve picks a frontrunner for Judge Harrell’s vacancy. We even talked Kim Davis, the Kentucky court clerk who was jailed for refusing to give marriage licenses to same-sex couples.
