Police: Impaired driver crashes into Maryland state trooper

ANNAPOLIS — Authorities say a driver believed to be impaired is under arrest after driving his car into the side of the patrol car of a Maryland state trooper attempting to pull him over in Annapolis.

Police tell local media outlets they received calls Sunday evening reporting a driver, 23-year-old Dillon C. Haneke of Edgewater, who was weaving through lanes and driving very slowly.

Trooper Andrew Lee drove to the right side of Haneke’s car and ordered Haneke to stop, but he refused. Authorities say Lee then drove ahead of the car, at which time Haneke struck the trooper’s vehicle. It was not immediately clear if Lee was injured.

Haneke is being charged with driving under the influence, assault and reckless endangerment. He was not injured. It is unclear whether he has an attorney.
