OXON HILL — Prince George’s County Fire Department officials say they’ve closed the inner loop of the Capital Beltway at the Wilson Bridge while they investigate a suspicious package mid-span on the bridge’s pedestrian walkway.
Fire department spokesman Mark Brady says the department’s bomb squad received a call about the package on the span before noon Friday. While they investigate, Brady says authorities will close the inner loop of the beltway at the exit for Interstate 295.
The bridge crosses the Potomac River between Alexandria, Virginia, and Oxon Hill, Maryland. Hundreds of thousands of cars travel the frequently congested Capital Beltway daily.
