When parking garages attack

Watch out for the mechanical gate the next time you walk in a parking garage.

An Upper Marlboro woman is suing Johns Hopkins Hospital after she says a gate in one of the hospital’s garages hit her in the head when she was entering the garage on foot.

Florida Hall claims she was walking to her car in the garage on Orleans Street in April 2014 when the parking gate hit her in the head and upper body.

Hall “suffered severe mental and physical injuries as a result of this occurrence,” according to the complaint.

Hall alleges negligence on the part of the hospital and its employees who failed to ensure the garage was properly maintained and free of hazards, according to the complaint, and claims she suffered “severe bodily and mental injuries.”

The lawsuit seeks damages in excess of $75,000.

The case is Florida Hall v. The Johns Hopkins Health System Corporation et al., 24C150053525.
