Manno reveals prostate cancer diagnosis

State Sen. Roger Manno said Monday he is recovering at home after undergoing aggressive treatment for prostate cancer.

Manno, D-Montgomery County and co-chair of the Spending Affordability Committee, made the announcement in an email to constituents in which he said the disease was discovered after a routine biopsy in September.

“Two weeks ago, under the extraordinary care of renowned Johns Hopkins doctors Patrick C. Walsh, Jason Michaud, and my outstanding surgeon, Dr. Mohamad E. Allaf, I underwent aggressive surgery to remove my cancer,” Manno, 49, wrote in his email. “Last Sunday night, after six days and two surgeries at Hopkins, I returned home a little tired but 100 percent cancer free.”
