DGS, MDOT to host Business Opportunities and Entrepreneurial Training Summit

The Maryland Department of General Services and the Department of Transportation will host the inaugural Business Opportunities and Entrepreneurial Training Summit Tuesday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Turf Valley Conference Center, 2700 Turf Valley Road, in Ellicott City.

The summit is the first state-sponsored business conference where companies will be able to meet project managers, procurement officers and other decision-makers and get valuable information about current and future contracting opportunities with DGS and MDOT. The two agencies have more than $1 billion in combined contracting opportunities. More than 400 businesses will be represented at the event.

Lieutenant Gov. Boyd K. Rutherford is scheduled to deliver the opening remarks. Marc D. Weller, a partner and president of Sagamore Development Company will be the luncheon keynote speaker. Also expected to attend are General Services Secretary C. Gail Bassette and Transportation Secretary Pete K. Rahn.
