Next week, eight companies that took part in Startup Maryland’s 2015 Pitch Across Maryland bus tour will have a chance to present their ideas once again — but this time a $100,000 investment could be the reward.
The eight finalists have been invited to pitch at the fifth annual Entrepreneurship Expo, sponsored by the Maryland Technology Development Corporation (TEDCO), in Linthicum on Tuesday.

Finalists include a biotech company that wants to turn chicken feathers into a biodegradable substitute for plastic (Kera Biotech, see their video pitch here); an app that scans social media to let users know the relative level of illness in their area (Sickweather); and a data-sharing platform that facilitates collaboration among researchers (Breezio), according to Startup Maryland.
The others — and their pitches — are:
“The word is out and our tour stop partners really brought their A-game in helping identify and encourage strong startups to participate in this year’s tour,” Startup Maryland Founder Mike Binko said in a news release.
