Counterfeit currency being passed at stores in Salisbury

SALISBURY — Salisbury Police say counterfeit currency is being passed at stores throughout the area during the holiday shopping season.

Counterfeit $50, $20 and $5 bills have been passed at about 10 businesses between Dec. 15 and 27, officers said in a news release Tuesday.

Authorities say people have used the counterfeit money to buy gift cards, money orders, car washing services and food.
