Delayed semester classes starting at some Maryland colleges

COLLEGE PARK — The delayed spring semester is beginning for students at some Maryland public universities but others won’t be back in session until Thursday at the earliest.

Classes started Tuesday — one day late — at Salisbury University and the University of Maryland-Baltimore, according to their websites.

Classes are set to begin Wednesday at the University of Maryland-College Park and the University of Maryland-Eastern Shore.

Frostburg State, Towson University, Morgan State and the University of Maryland-Baltimore County say they’ll delay the start of classes until at least Thursday.

Bowie State, Coppin State and the University of Baltimore were closed Tuesday and didn’t say when they would reopen.

Virtually all the institutions were affected by the weekend snowstorm.
