Maryland man gets prison for Virginia fire bombing

ALEXANDRIA, Va. — A 26-year-old Frederick man has been sentenced to nearly 16 years in prison for fire bombing the Loudoun County Department of Community Corrections building.

The government said Jonathan Ernesto Godoy was sentenced Thursday in U.S. District Court in Alexandria. He pleaded guilty in November to an arson-related charge and using fire or an explosive device in the commission of a federal felony.

According to court documents, in 2012 Godoy was in danger of violating the conditions of his probation for several reasons, including positive drug tests. Prosecutors said he and a co-conspirator made Molotov cocktails and tossed the explosives in the window of his probation officer.

One exploded inside the corrections building and caused more than $300,000 in property damage.
