Md. high court rules recording of call unlawful, overturns child-abuse conviction

Maryland’s top court has overturned a man’s conviction for child sexual abuse, saying his incriminating statements via telephone to his now-adult victim were recorded without the “supervision” of a police officer, in violation of state law, and thus should not have been admitted at trial.
